Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Despite finishing 24 points behind Bobby Orr and the Boston Bruins during the 1970-71 regular season, the Montreal Canadiens ousted the Beantowners after a young goalkeeper named Ken Dryden stifled the frustrated boys from Boston throughout the first round of the playoffs. The Habs would go on to beat Minnesota and then take out the New York Rangers in seven games in the Stanley Cup final. We have a wonderful 1970-71 Stanley Cup championship trophy that was presented to Rolland Ricard (Publiciste). Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with green felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved beneath Habs executives, with “Club de Hockey Canadien Inc” and “1970-71” engraved above. Heavy tarnishing is present throughout, with the top bowl slightly bent, with a bit of denting near the base. There is also some wear to the black wooden base. Despite three of the bottom nails missing, the trophy remains firmly attached to the base, as it was most likely glued at some point.
