A four-time Stanley Cup champion with the 1980s New York Islanders dynasty, HOF right wing Mike Bossy scored 50 goals or more in each of his first nine NHL seasons before back injuries forced him to retire at the age of 30. Bossy’s 1981-82 Islanders game-worn jersey has nice game wear and is from the height of the dynasty, a season that saw the Cup remain on Long Island for a third straight year. Bossy scored 64 goals, one of his five 60-goal seasons, and had career highs with 83 assists and 147 points in the regular season before claiming Conn Smythe honors in the playoffs. There is a team repair on the left sleeve and two more sewing fixes on the front of the left shoulder. The multi-twill Islanders crest sewn on the front is puckered from repeated washings, and there is a reddish-brown stain just above the 3 o’clock position on the white twill outer edge.
More game wear includes pilling inside the sleeves at the elbows, board burns on the front of the right shoulder, on the left front tail and on both sleeves, including an unrepaired burn hole on the left sleeve, and numerous marks still visible, including on the front and rear tails, on the upper right and left front, each near the sleeve and shoulder yoke seams. Sandow SK logo is heat-screened in white on the right rear tail. Sandow flag tag in the neck is completely washed out in front of the wash-faded laundry instruction flag tag. Fight strap loop remains inside the back of the jersey.
