Stanley Cup champions within just their first decade of existence, the New York Islanders built a powerhouse team throughout the 1970s, culminating in a quartet of Stanley Cup championships over the course of five (5) straight Stanley Cup Finals appearances while icing some of the era’s greatest players. Offered here, we present this collection of nineteen (19) New York Islanders game-used sticks dating from the mid-to-late-1970s. Including vintage lumber from the likes of key players such as Billy Smith (KOHO 231 - heavily cracked paddle), Mike Bossy (Canadien - likely from trying out sticks when he was switching from KOHO to Titan), Bryan Trottier (KOHO 221 - signed on the back side with a "Happy Birthday Butch" annotation - April 5th, 1976 date stamp - cracked toe), Denis Potvin (Sher-Wood PMP 5052) and Clark Gillies (KOHO 221 - September 23rd, 1976 date stamp - team signed by 17 including Harris, Hart, Gillies, J. Potvin, Smith, Howatt, Marshall and others with many of the signatures faded - cracked toe), stick from other players present include those of Resch, Westfall, Tonelli, Howatt (signed over a section of added white tape over the shaft with an annotation reading "Butch, Happy Birthday" in pen with the notation and autograph light from age), Lane, Kallur, Marshall, Lewis, Gillies, Persson, Henning, Bridgeman (broken blade), Kasczycki, Langevan (large cracks in shaft and blade tape removed) and Tambellini. Mostly KOHO 221 Custom Pro models with a few still sporting date stamps from 1976, a couple of Victoriaville and Canadien model offerings are mixed in as well. All featuring player name stamps over the upper shafts with some displaying handwritten number identifiers over the upper shafts as well, all show game-use in the range or moderate-to-heavy after inspection with the game-wear including things such as marks/abrasions to the blades and shaft, nicks and chips while all still retain their original tape jobs over the blades and handles/knobs unless otherwise noted. Overall, a fantastic collection for someone looking to get their hands on twigs that were once gracing the ice of a franchise on the cusp of Stanley Cup glory! Please be advised that due to the number of sticks present only quick inspection was given to all of the included examples and special shipping requirements may be needed.
