Maurice Richard was such a big deal that he received accolades and tributes even on a night set aside to honor one of his teammates. This city of Victoriaville “Fete Jean Beliveau 1956” wall plaque with an “M. Richard” nameplate at the bottom was presented to the Rocket when Beliveau, his Hall of Fame teammate, was honored by his Quebec hometown. Beliveau’s family moved to Victoriaville when he was six years old and he played junior hockey there before going on to his first Stanley Cup win in 1956, when he also won the Art Ross and Hart trophies. This 8” x 10” wooden wall plaque is originally from Maurice Richard’s personal collection. It comes with an LOA signed by the Richard family.
Richard and Beliveau led the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup in 1955-56, the first of Montreal's record five straight championships. Beliveau led the NHL with 47 goals and 88 points to claim the scoring title and league MVP honors.
