Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Great piece of Montreal Canadiens and NHL history is hockey legend Maurice “Rocket” Richard’s 100th goal puck. Following his incredible 50-goals-in-50-games accomplishment the previous season, Richard reached the 100-goal milestone with two goals in a game against Chicago at the old Montreal Forum on December 29, 1945. The Rocket scored his 99th goal in the second period, and then was set up by fellow HOFers Elmer Lach and Buddy O’Connor in the third to beat Black Hawks goalie Mike Karakas. Mounted with a screw on a 5 1/4" diameter round wood base, the milestone Art Ross NHL official game puck has a vintage handwritten “100” on the small octagonal crest. Subsequently gifted to fellow Habs icon Jean Beliveau by Richard, it is originally from Beliveau’s personal collection and comes with a copy of the scoresheet from the game and Jean Beliveau’s signed LOA.
“M Richard 100 Buts” is written in black marker on the back of the wood plaque.
