Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Arguably the most successful time during the century of existence for the Montreal Canadiens, the mid-to-late 1950s Stanley Cup dynasty accounted for 5 consecutive championships, with numerous HOF legends accounting for their success. We have a highly desirable Maurice Richard game-issued stick, team-signed by the 1956-57 Canadiens. A CCM Pattern Made Professional model, “Richard” and “9” are stamped-on, with maker Ernie Evernden’s facsimile signature across both sides of the “Extra Special” stick’s blade. An important stamp from supplier Raymond Hardware is also present on the front side, with 15 ballpoint signatures present including HOFers Plante, Beliveau, Moore, Harvey, Johnson, Blake and the Richard brothers. Some light general wear is present on the stick, with a small piece at the toe section broken off.
Others who have signed this Rocket Richard game-issued stick are Olmstead, Provost, Pronovost, Marshall, Curry, St. Laurent and Bob Turner. Most of the signatures are somewhat light but legible, with just a few hard to make out.
