A long-serving captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mats Sundin is currently the Leafs' all-time leader in goals and points. Having been drafted 1st overall by the Quebec Nordiques in 1989, Sundin would go on to play 13 of his 18 years in the NHL in the blue and white of the Maple Leafs and be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. Offered here, we have this stick used by Sundin as a member of the Maple Leafs during the early part of the 1999-2000 season. A Titan brand 9600 model twig, “Sundin” has been stamped over the upper shaft with the stick retaining Mats’ tape job of heavily soiled white over the knob (with holes having been drilled into the butt end) that has had a ring come loose over time at the bottom. The black blade tape has been removed to facilitate Sundin’s signature which has been done in black ink and displays well while a personalization has been penned above it. Exhibiting light game-use, a few marks/abrasions are seen throughout the shaft, heel and blade with tape residue over both the top and bottom edges and some light wear to the edge of the toe that is worth mentioning for accuracy.
