Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Scoring 161 points in just 70 games in 1995-96, Mario Lemieux would win the Art Ross, Hart Memorial and Ted Lindsay awards that season, while also being selected a First Team All-Star. Hailing from that especially successful time during Lemieux’s career in the mid-1990s, we present this stick used by the HOF superstar. A KOHO Revolution model, “Lemieux” appears stamped over the upper shaft slightly faded but still fully legible while a factory code of “849 7” appears on the underside of the lower shaft with a small "45" penned above it in gold ink along with a "13" in blue pen ink. Retaining its original black cloth wrapping over both the handle/knob and appearing to be done in a bit of a rush compared to other Lemieux sticks that we have handled, the black tape that was once in place over the blade was removed to facilitate Lemieux's large black marker ink signature and inscription over the forehand side which displays without issue. Displaying game-use via some marks and abrasions throughout the length of the shaft, lower shaft and heel, the blade of the stick shows some residue of the tape that was once in place as well. Of note, the stick was originally gifted by Lemieux to Mike Walton and was on display in his bar and restaurant, Shakeys, in Toronto.
