Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Once called “the most talented player I have ever seen” by the iconic Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux was the only player able to compete on fairly equal footing with the one and only Wayne Gretzky. From the early-2000s, we have a signed stick used by the legendary superstar. A Nike Quest 3 model in Pens colours and preferred by Mario in the twilight of his career, “M. Lemieux” factory graphics appear on the upper shaft, along with a factory code on the underside. The original black tape is in place over the blade, handle and knob. Mario has signed over the lower shaft, just above the heel section in black marker, and the signature displays nicely against the lighter background. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
Exhibiting light game-use, there is wear along with a few tears to the taped section of blade including the underside, with additional wear and marks to the shaft.
