Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Atop the East Division at the conclusion of the 1972-73 NHL regular season, the Montreal Canadiens then defeated Buffalo, Philly and Chicago in post-season play to claim their 18th franchise Stanley Cup. We have a wonderful 1972-73 Stanley Cup championship trophy that was presented to team member Marc Tardif. Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with green felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved in three columns beneath Habs executives, with “Club de Hockey Canadien” and “1972-73” engraved above. Tarnishing, spotting and surface loss (especially over the reverse) is apparent, with the top bowl both bent and void of its original circular continuity. There is also some crazing to the surface, while the base is completely attached but loose. The all-time leading goal scorer in the WHA, Tardif spent four seasons with the Habs, with 1972-73 his last. An LOA will accompany this fabulous and desirable Stanley Cup trophy.
