Encompassing an especially successful decade with 5 Stanley Cups earned including a trio of consecutive championships from 1947 to 1949, we offer a wonderful Maple Leaf Gardens program collection of thirty-four, ranging from 1940 to 1948, with twenty-five featuring Leafs contests, highlighted by Stanley Cup finals programs from 1945 and 1948. The Leafs stars of the day are featured on covers including Watson, Pratt, M. Bentley, Kennedy, Smythe and others, with 4 programs signed on the covers individually by Sweeney Schriner, Gus Bodnar, Frank McCool and Ted Kennedy. In the approx 7” x 10” range give or take, we have a two programs from 1942-43 (including example signed by Schriner), three from 1943-44 (including examples signed by Bodnar and McCool), one from 1944-45 (signed by Kennedy), twelve from 1947-48, five from 1948-49 and one misc. There are also nine 1940s programs for different games/events at MLG.
The majority of programs are complete with their center line-ups, with condition ranging, with most in pleasing displayable condition despite lower technical grades, including the odd crease or tear, as well as paper loss, page detachment, etc. The 1945 Stanley Cup finals program is for Game 4 (April 14, 1945, won by Detroit 5-3), with the details written on the cover, with the line-up detached and moderate overall wear. The 1948 Stanley Cup finals program is for Game 2 (April 10, 1948, won by Toronto 4-2), with the line-up detached and moderate overall wear. The signed programs include Kennedy, McCool and Bodnar signing in ink, Schriner in pencil, with all 4 signatures displaying nicely.
