This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2020
Representing four decades of the Toronto Maple Leafs, we have a great vintage program collection of 55 spanning from the 1930s to 1960s, with a pair for playoffs action along with 11 signed on the cover which includes four HOFers. The breakdown by decade is as follows; six from the 1930s including one signed (Davidson); seven from the 1940s including three signed (Kennedy, Stanowski and Davidson); twenty-six from the 1950s including four signed (Stewart, Flaman, Watson and Smith); fourteen from the 1960s including three signed (Baun, Brewer and Ullman). The two playoff programs include a Game 2 example from the 1962 Stanley Cup finals (won by Toronto 3-2) and a program for Game 3 of the first round of the 1964 playoffs. There is also a 1962 NHL All-Star Game program and a “Vancouver Weekly Sports” program from the mid-1930s for exhibition contests between Toronto and Chicago on the west coast.
Condition ranges within the collection, with a number of programs showing heavier wear with damage to the covers or interior pages, creasing, tears, etc, while a number are in pleasing condition with just light handling wear. The majority of the earlier 1930s examples remain in stunning high grade. We should also note that a few programs are for other events at MLG, and further note that some are either missing the center line-up or it is loose.
