Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Eh, what’s up Doc? While Bugs Bunny never suited-up for an NHL game with the Los Angeles Kings – not that we’re aware of at least – the rascally rabbit joined superstar Luc Robitaille for this adorable Warner Bros hand-painted and framed cel with giclee background that hails from the HOFers personal collection. At 16” x 20” and picturing Bugs in a number of charming images including with Robitaille, a Warner Bros Clampett Studios logo appears over the bottom right, with Robitaille signing in black marker on the left side, and “Bugs Rabitaille” signing on the right. Double-matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 31” x 35”, a plastic cover instead of glass has been utilized, with some light wear to the especially heavy silver metal frame. A signed LOA from Luc Robitaille will accompany.
Created from initial concepts developed from original photographs and a series of rough drawings, the final line drawing was then created and was hand-inked, with the master inking then silk-screened to the front of the cel, with hand-painting done to the reverse, matching the manner in which the original cartoons were created. Luc’s image was giclee printed on a separate cel, with the background digitally created and reproduced on fine art paper using the giclee printing process.
A portion of the sales from the Luc Robitaille personal collection will benefit the Echoes of Hope Foundation. Founded in 2007 by Stacia and Luc Robitaille, Echoes of Hope strives to awaken the spirit of hope in the lives of children, youth, and young adults in need by alleviating barriers and helping them reach their full potential.
