Well, we've definitely saved the best for last! This absolutely sensational Boston Bruins home jersey was worn by the incomparable Bobby Orr during the 1973-74 season. It was another stellar one for Bobby as he helped lead the Bruins to a 52-win, 113-point season and the Prince of Wales Trophy. Orr led the league with 90 assists and, combined with his 32 goals, his 122 points were second only in the league to teammate Phil Esposito's 145 total. Bobby continued his stranglehold on the Norris Trophy, copping his 7th of 8 straight Norris awards as the league's outstanding defenceman while leading the NHL with a +84. This gorgeous Wilson dureen jersey that Bobby wore at Boston Garden is tagged in the neck by the company and had "73" added in bold black marker while a faint size "56" in black ink can barely be spotted. The Bruins gold and black tackle twill crest is sewn on the front along with an assistant captain's "A" on the left breast. The number "4" which Bobby immortalized after respectfully turning down an offer to wear Dit Clapper's "5" when he joined the Bruins, is sewn on the back and sleeves. Small round embroidered patches commemorating Boston's 50th year in the NHL are sewn on the shoulders while a double garter-style fight strap is in the tail. The jersey exhibits great game use that will excite and satisfy jersey collectors. There are a total of 23 team repairs. Five small circular repairs on the front are joined by a nickel-sized one 5" up from the striping and 2" from the right seam. A dime-sized repair is at the left elbow with a smaller one on the left shoulder, just under the 50th anniversary patch. The left sleeve also includes 2 small repairs in one of the black stripes. The right sleeve features 4 repairs highlighted by a 1" rectangular one beside the "4" and just above a 4" streak of red board paint. It is this repair that can be matched to the cover shot of Bobby on his book "Bobby Orr: My Game". Seven of the 9 repairs on the back are in or just above the hem striping with the other two dime-sized jobs near the right seam. Small light stains, snags, burns and great interior pilling are also to mention. The game's greatest defenceman penned a black marker signature on the left breast. It goes without saying but we will say it.........a serious game worn jersey collection is not complete without a Bobby Orr jersey. Beauties like this one very seldom surface. Originally sold in the Boston Garden auction and in collectors' hands ever since, this magnificent, captivating shirt presents serious collectors with a tremendous opportunity. Many consider Bobby Orr to be the greatest player ever to lace on a pair of skates. We will not enter into that never-ending debate but will state that there will never, ever be another Bobby Orr. A letter of authenticity will be included with this special treasure.
