This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
William Northey was a lifetime member of the CAHA, president of the Montreal AAA during some of the team's greatest years, helped supervise the construction of the original Montreal Forum and was for many years managing director of the storied building. This letter on his personal letterhead is dated June 24, 1958 and is addressed to the heads of all departments and the employees of the Canadian Arena Company. It reveals Northey's retirement plans starting July 1st and extends his thanks for their loyalty and cooperation over the previous 35 years. Northey concludes by saying his interest in the Forum and the welfare of those connected with it will not be less because of his departure. His ballpoint signature at the bottom is one we have not seen in the past. Northey was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 1947 and died in 1963. A rare HOF signature.
