The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Tremendous vintage wartime hockey sweater was worn by a member of a Royal Canadian Navy hockey team. The navy blue and cream colored jersey features a thick felt maple leaf crest sewn on the front, with "R.C.N." and a small crown sewn on it. A thick felt number "4" is sewn on the back with reinforced stitching. The well-worn sweater includes 8 repairs on the front, a sizeable one on the left sleeve and 3 along the rear hem in the hip region. There are dozens of small holes throughout and sweat/dirt stains around the neckline. Seldom seen and thought-provoking jersey is from a time when many NHLers were serving Canada and playing on armed forces teams.
