The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Discovered playing Senior hockey in British Columbia by Tom McVie, Bill Riley's scoring and fighting with the IHL's Dayton Gems landed him a spot with McVie's Washington Capitals for parts of 3 seasons ('76 – '79). Riley's striking white dureen Caps jersey is tagged in the neck by Wilson in size 44. Moderate game use with light marks, red paint and laundered filth at the elbow regions, to go along with interior pilling. "Riley" in blue and red tackle twill is sewn onto the white tackle twill nameplate. A garter-style fight strap is in the tail. Fabulous jersey was worn by a man who made history in 1989 becoming the first black pro to become a head coach (in his native Nova Scotia). A LOA will be included with this superb 1970's jersey.
