The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Two stunning Toronto Maple Leafs team photos from the 1930's highlight this tempting lot. The first Leafs team to capture the Stanley Cup in 1932 is joined by the Toronto squad that took part in the Ace Bailey benefit All-Star Game in February of 1934. Leaf legends Clancy, Day, Conacher, Primeau, Jackson and Horner are pictured in each photo, along with Leafs "brass" Smythe, Selke and coach Dick Irvin. A 1932 view of the Stanley Cup and the crystal clear photography in the Bailey night photo are special notables. Both 8" x 10" photos are in excellent condition with no major flaws and have the Alexandra Studio stamp on the back. Also included is a shot of legendary Foster Hewitt at the microphone during pre-game ceremonies of the Leafs 1935 home opener against the N.Y. Americans, a few of whom can be spotted in the background. NHL President Frank Calder is one of 3 dignitaries standing behind Hewitt. Completing the lot is a gorgeous colorized ("EX+") photo of Ottawa Senator Wally Kilrea.
