The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
This is the contract Hall-of-Famer Harry Watson signed with the Leafs prior to the 1950-51 season. The salary that Watson agreed to was $9500 with bonuses if he made the 1st ($1000) or 2nd All-Star Team ($500). The deal was made September 11, 1950 and signed by 3 HOFers; Watson, Leafs boss Conn Smythe and NHL President Clarence Campbell. Watson, who helped Toronto to 4 Stanley Cups while often checking the opposition's top scorers, scored the eventual Cup-winner in 1948 and more interestingly assisted on Bill Barilko's famous Cup-winning goal to cap off that very '50-51 season!
