The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Two of hockey's all-time greats and players similar in stature and prolificness, Stan Mikita and Marcel Dionne traded places on the NHL's all-time point list in February of 1985 as Dionne moved past Mikita into 3rd place. Sunday, February 10th was the date and the Pittsburgh "Igloo" the place. Dionne's 33rd goal of the season was his 89th point of the year and 1468th of his career. The goal on Roberto Romano at 19:46 of the 1st period was assisted by Brian MacLellan and Jim Fox and put the Kings up 2-1 en route to a 4-3 victory. The Penguins (Ziegler) game puck has a piece of white athletic tape covering the Penguins logo and simply reads "Mikita Break". It's in great shape and comes from the personal collection of Marcel Dionne who will sign a LOA that will be included with the special keepsake.
