The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
After rewarding their top performers with massive and towering trophies in the 1970's, the Los Angeles Kings downsized things a little as the 1980's arrived. Marcel Dionne on the other hand didn't change a thing and continued to be the Kings top performer and one of the league's most exciting superstars. The 1980-81 season saw Dionne set a record by reaching the 1000 point mark in just his 740th game while racking up 58 goals and 135 points, second only to Wayne Gretzky in the scoring race. Dionne led the NHL in plus/minus and became the Kings' all-time goal, assist and point man. At season's end Marcel received these two exquisite marble-based trophies as Kings leading scorer and for most three star selections. A covered and handled cup on top of which stands a golden hockey player is on each of the funky-colored 6 1/2" square bases. With a height of 14", the trophies are in gorgeous near mint condition and will come with a letter of authenticity signed by Los Angeles' greatest hockey hero.
