The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Marcel Dionne's prolific 3-year junior career with the St. Catharines Black Hawks saw the scoring sensation rack up 375 points, including 154 goals, in just 148 games. Dionne was the OHA's scoring champion in both 1969-70 and ‘70-71 while leading his team to the league title and the Memorial Cup playdowns in his last season. This gorgeous red dureen Hawks jersey has a frayed Gunzo's tag in the neck along with a size 46 fly tag, while a faded General Athletic washing instructions tag is in the lower hem. The impressive embroidered and tackle twill Indian head logo is sewn on the front while crossed tomahawks and "D"s appear on the shoulders, suggesting the shirt was a recycled Dallas Black Hawks sweater. White tackle twill "9"s are sewn on the back and sleeves. Jersey is in great condition with just a couple of unrepaired holes; a dime-sized one in the lowest black stripe on the front and a tiny one on the right breast. Team repairs total 6; a pair of dime-sized ones are on the rear hem, 2 bigger ones on the left sleeve, a 4-inch job on the right elbow and the striping at the base of the neck was torn and repaired. A few black stick/slash marks are on each sleeve and the "9" on the back exhibits some sweat-staining. One of the highlights of Marcel Dionne's jersey collection and preserved in outstanding condition, it will come with his signed LOA.
