The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
After being a rookie invitee to the 1972 Team Canada training camp but not seeing any action in the 8-game series with the Soviets, Marcel Dionne got his first real taste of international competition at the inaugural Canada Cup tournament in 1976. Canada iced a wonderful cross section of budding (Dionne and Lafleur), established (Clarke, Sittler and Perreault) and veteran superstars (Hull and Orr) to claim top honors. Dionne's red knit #15 jersey worn during the tourney has an AK manufacturer's tag in the neck that indicates size 42. All logos, lettering and numbers are screened-on. Sweater shows light game wear with a few stick/slash marks in the big white half maple leaf. Dionne contributed a goal and 5 assists, (including the pass that sent Darryl Sittler on his way to the tournament-winning goal), in Canada's 7 games, climaxed by it's 2-game sweep of Czechoslovakia in the finals. This tantalizing piece of international hockey memorabilia will be accompanied by a LOA signed by Marcel Dionne.
