Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/29/2025
One of only three men throughout a century of NHL hockey to eclipse the insurmountable 800-goal plateau, and on the verge of surpassing The Great One's famous 892 mark at the time of this writing, Alexander Ovechkin has proven himself as one of the game’s all-time greatest, with HOF enshrinement guaranteed. The practical owner of the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy awarded at seasons end to the man with the most goals during the season, Ovi has won it 9 times, including a run of 4 straight between 2012-13 and 2015-16. From a year that saw him with the 5th goal scoring title of his career with 53 goals, offered here is a stick used by Ovechkin during the 2014-15 season. A Bauer TotalOne NXG model with "Ovie 8" factory graphics appearing over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of red cloth finished with red vinyl at the bottom over the handle/knob with "8" handwritten, and white tape that has been darkened over both sides around the blade. Retaining its factory production date and serial number stickers affixed to the underside of the shaft, there is also a hologram numbered "13939" from the Capitals affixed to the upper shaft just below the taped handle. Game-use is light, with just a few tiny marks to the shaft including some red paint transfer to the lower shaft, along with wear to the taped handle including a very small tear.
