Mike Bossy’s arrival in the NHL during the 1977-78 season immediately signaled the birth of a
generational goal scorer. Known for his lightning-quick release and lethal accuracy, Bossy
became the fastest player to reach 500 goals and remains one of the most efficient scorers in
league history. Over his remarkable career with the New York Islanders, Bossy captured four
consecutive Stanley Cup championships (1980–1983), won the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the
Year, and secured the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1982. He remains one of the few players to score
50 goals in 50 games—an achievement that underscores his place among hockey’s elite.
Presented here is a high-grade example of Bossy’s iconic 1978-79 O-Pee-Chee rookie card
(#115), graded MINT 9 by PSA. Out of the 1,804 copies submitted to PSA over the years, this
pop-128 example is only bettered by seven others on the PSA population report.
The card is housed in a PSA holder that remains in excellent condition, with no significant flaws
to note.
