Max Bentley was one of the most electrifying players of his era, known for his incredible speed,
quick hands, and elusive skating style—earning him the nickname “The Dipsy Doodle Dandy.”
He began his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he played alongside his brother
Doug Bentley, forming one of the most dangerous scoring duos of the 1940s. Max won two
scoring titles (1946 and 1947) and the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 1946, cementing himself
as one of the league’s elite. In 1947, Bentley was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in one of
the biggest trades in NHL history, where he immediately elevated the team to championship
status. He helped lead the Leafs to three Stanley Cup victories in 1948, 1949, and 1951, adding
to his already impressive legacy. Bentley retired with over 500 career points in just 646 games
and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966.
This Max Bentley rookie card, graded EX-MT 6 by the folks at PSA is encased in a holder which remains in excellent condition, with only a small handful of light scuffs and minor scratches on both sides, noted for accuracy.
