Second on the all-time wins list for American-born goaltenders, John Vanbiesbrouck began his career in Manhattan and saw him spend ten (10) seasons with the Blueshirts, the team that drafted him 72nd overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, with the young goaltender winning a Vezina Trophy in 1986. Offered here, we present this stick used by JVB during the period of the late-1980s as a member of the New York Rangers. A Louisville TPS model twig in New York's red, white and blue colourway with "Vanbiesbrouck" stamped over the shaft in black block letters, the stick retains its original white tape job around the handle and knob as well as around the entirety of the blade while a foil accent sticker is still found at the bottom of the handle. Signed by JVB over the heel area of the blade tape on the backhand side with a blue marker ink signature that displays with some fading from age, Vanbiesbrouck has added an inscription reading "Best Wishes!" in matching ink. Displaying good game-use, the stick sports numerous puck marks and other abrasions throughout its entirety as well as some dents from shots over the top edge of the paddle. Additionally, both sides of the blade tape show tears and puck marks while red post paint transfers are seen over the backside of the upper shaft. Of note, there is also some wear to the bottom edge of the blade, heaviest towards the heel.
