Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/29/2025
An all-time favourite premium with collectors and issued in three different sets over an eight-year period during the 1960s, with the first one being released during a year that ended with the Chicago Black Hawks knocking off the Detroit Red Wings for their first hoisting of Lord Stanley since 1938. Offered here, we present collection of nine (9) glasses from the 1960-61 York Peanut Butter Glasses that picture players from both the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. Issued at the start of the playoffs in March of 1961 and including the likes of Jean Beliveau, Henri Richard, Boom Boom Geoffrion, Doug Harvey and Dickie Moore on the Montreal side as well as Johnny Bower, Frank Mahovlich, Allen Stanley and Bob Pulford example for the Maple Leafs, the glasses all stand 4 1/2" in height overall and feature dual player imagery done in the main colour of the team they play for, along with a cartoon referee with listed infraction that is done in white. All remaining in beautiful high-grade condition with just the odd slight blemish throughout, it is also worth noting that each is stamped with an "F" over the bottom, designating each as a first series example.
