Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025

Representing Russia continuously for two decades which included winning numerous gold medals, Ilya Kovalchuk made his NHL debut with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2001-02 and spent the majority of his career in Georgia. Also suiting up in the National Hockey League with the likes of New Jersey, Los Angeles, Montreal and Washington, Kovalchuk would help his country to gold at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, collecting MVP honours in the process by posting seven (7) points in six (6) games played. Offered here, and hailing from the lockout shortened season of 2012-13, we present this stick used by Kovalchuk. A Warrior Covert model twig with "I. Kovalchuk" and "IK17" factory graphics over the shaft, the stick retains its original red gripper over the handle/knob. Having had its original white tape removed from the blade to facilitate Kovalchuk's silver marker ink signature over the forehand side, the stick still sports its original factory barcode and hologram stickers affixed to the underside of the shaft. Spray painted black over the lower shaft, heel and blade, the stick shows game-use via a number of marks and abrasions in these areas as well as some dried gripping agent in areas of the shaft.
