Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025

Coached by Toronto Maple Leafs legend Charlie Conacher and featuring future NHL stars Bill Ezinicki (captain), Gus Mortson, Floyd Curry and HOFer Ted Lindsay, the Oshawa Generals lost only 3 of the club's 26 games in 1943-44, and won the George Richardson Memorial Trophy. Advancing to the Memorial Cup finals, the Generals battled the Abbott Cup champion Trail Smoke Eaters, winning the series handily four games straight, outscoring their Western Canadian competitors 40 to 12. Originally presented to a member of the Oshawa Generals organization, and acquired from longtime hockey historian Brian Logie, this original puck is presumed to have been used in the final series clinching Game 4 won by Oshawa 11-4, held at Maple Leaf Gardens, on April 22nd. Painted solid white sometime after use and decorated with "Oshawa Generals" in blue paint along with "Memorial Cup Champs 1944" along the side, circular logos are visible beneath the paint in the right shape and size for Spalding (the consignor mentioned that they used Orange Octagon Art Ross Tyer Buffalo pucks in these games). There is wear to the puck from use including chips, small gouges and cuts, with the added paint holding up beautifully, making the historic keepsake ideal for display.
