A wonderful starter set of the very first hockey cards, available to consumers in packages of cigarettes well over one hundred years ago and offered to serious collectors here constitutes a hobby happening, with several of the men responsible for making early professional hockey a happening featured amid the nearly two dozen darlings being presented here. Including twenty (20) of the thirty-six (36) cards that make up the checklist, the group of hockey forefathers is paced by eight (8) cards that have been recently returned from grading at PSA. Including the encapsulated examples of #3 Gordon Roberts RC (PSA VG-EX 4), #17 Bruce Stewart RC (PSA EX 5), #21 Jack Laviolette RC (PSA EX 5), #28 Paddy Moran RC (PSA VG 3) and #35 Jack Marshall RC (PSA GOOD 2 - "MC" qualifier) plus #13 Ed Decary RC (PSA EX+ 5.5), #18 Ed Bawlf RC (PSA VG-EX 4) and #31 Horace Gaul (PSA VG-EX 4). All in fresh PSA holders that remain in overall excellent condition, the rest of the cards, found in their original raw ungraded form, include the likes of #4 Barney Holden RC (GOOD - thin hairline crease down the middle of his body), #5 P. Glass RC (G to VG - very tiny hairline crease at the bottom right which shows more on the reverse), #6 Edgar Dey RC (GOOD - small pressure mark over the front and slight staining on the reverse), #7 Marty Walsh RC (VG to VG-EX - light staining on the reverse and a small ding at the top right - appears to be short a bit from side-to-side), #11 Herb Clark RC (PR to F - ink bleed top border and crease at top left), #14 Tom Dunderdale RC (FR to G - crease across the front), #20 Ernest Russell RC (PR to F - multiple creases and rounded/worn corners), #23 Didier Pitre RC (PR to F - worn and rounded corners), #24 Skinner Poulin RC (FR - tiny cut at top right corner), #25 Art Bernier RC (PR - creases, worn out, dirty surfaces and rounded corners), #32 Harold McNamara RC ("Authentic" - punch hole, creases and corner wear) and #33 Jack Marshall RC (PR - multiple large creases).
