The country's second consecutive gold medal and third in five years, Sweden beat rival Finland 5-2 in the final match at the 1992 IIHF World Championships in then-Czechoslovakia. HOFer Peter Forsberg would score the first goal in the match for Sweden. We present a 1992 IIHF World Championship gold medal. Measuring 2 3/4" in diameter with the original blue and yellow ribbon attached and "1992" to the bail, "World Championships" appears in raised letters circling the perimeter on the obverse along with two generic players. Featuring a painted globe IIHF logo with crossed hockey sticks on the reverse, it is encompassed by "International Ice Hockey Federation" in matching style raised letters. The medal displays beautifully and remains in near mint condition, with a bit of oxidation and wear to the bail.
