Regarded as one of the most memorable hockey sets that Topps ever put out and headlined by the key rookie card of "The Golden Jet", Bobby Hull, the company's 1958-59 release featured a checklist that consisted of 66-cards that feature the images of players from the four (4) American based National Hockey League teams. Found here in near-complete set form, is this assembly of Topps' desirable 1958-59 hockey release that includes sixty-one (61) of the sixty-six (66) cards making up the checklist. Missing cards 2-Sawchuk, 30-Eddie Shack RC, 36-Pilote, 39-Worsley and 66-Bobby Hull RC, it is also worth noting that cards #6 of Danny Lewicki is signed over its front with a blue marker ink signature. In an overall EX condition for its efforts, the assembly includes the key examples of 8-Howe (VG-EX to EX - small corner dings and slight surface wear), 13-Hall (G to VG - pressure crease, faded surface and off-center), 20-Boivin (G to VG - bottom right corner has a ding, surface has a bubble), 21-Bathgate (G to VG - ding to bottom right corner), 24-Pronovost (EX to EX-MT - slightly faded), 40-Bucyk (VG-EX to EX - wax stain on the reverse and slight corner wear), 52-Delvecchio (VG-EX to EX - off-center and wax stain on the reverse), 61-Kelly (VG-EX to EX - light wear to three of the four corners and some surface snow) and 65-Ullman (EX to EX-MT - slight wear to the left side corners). Additionally, within the rest of the group, card #22 of Johnny Wilson displays with a crease.
