Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025

King Clancy and the Toronto Maple Leafs were the talk of hockey in the 1930s. This trio of Maple Leafs-themed items from that decade include a rarely seen promotional photo of the King that was produced originally to advertise Eno’s Fruit Salt during the 1930s. At approx 7” x 9” and featuring the six-time Stanley Cup champion in a full-colour pose in his Leafs uniform, “By the courtesy of Eno’s Fruit Salt” appears along the base. There is also a facsimile signature that is somewhat hard to read. Included is a black and white Eno Salts ad page removed from a program with Clancy pictured in the same pose. Also featured is a mini Toronto Maple Leafs pennant that was one of eight different NHL pennants available through a 1937 Red Ball Gum mail-in promotion. This tiny felt treasure measures about 4 ¼” long and displays nicely with still vibrant colors. Rounding out this trio is a 1932-33 Maple Leaf Gardens program with the Maple Leafs O’Keefe’s coasters ads, a complete issue that remains in nice condition. The program dated Saturday, March 25, 1933 features centerfold lineups for the two games played in the hockey mecca that day, a Memorial Cup Eastern Canada playoffs matinee game and an Allan Cup Eastern Canada playoffs game in the evening.
