A product of the Niagara Falls Flyers and London Nationals of the Ontario Hockey Association, Jim Dorey would be selected 23rd overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 1964 NHL Amateur Draft and go on to play in the National Hockey League with the likes of Toronto and New York. Jumping ship to the WHA and playing in the league for the entirety of its seven (7) year existence with the New England Whalers, Toronto Toros and Quebec Nordiques, Dorey would win AVCO Cup championships with New England in 1973 and Quebec in 1977. Offered here, we present this Quebec Nordiques jersey worn by Dorey during the 1977-78 WHA season. Unbranded and void of any collar tagging, the mesh construction offering measures out to roughly a size "50" for its effort. Sporting a white knit collar and decorated over the front with a screened on Nordiques crest, the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been sewn on over the left breast via a white twill letter while white screened on Fleur de lys' appear over the front and reverse hem lines plus both shoulders. Sporting Dorey's number "7" in screened on single layer white numerals over the sleeves and verso plus a dual garter style fight strap on the interior, "Dorey" is spelt out in single layer white letters that have been screened on across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Playing just twenty-six (26) regular season games plus eleven (11) playoff games that year, the jersey shows good wear via stick marks over the front hem and both sleeves, a small red coloured board paint transfer over the "7" of the right sleeve, an unrepaired cut/hole under the "7" of the left sleeve, board burns over the front, reverse and both sleeves, a small unrepaired hole at the bottom of the front crest and rubbing over the ends of both sleeves from Dorey's gloves. Also showing pilling on the interior, the exterior also displays with some spot staining and general filth/sweat staining from age/use.
