A product of the Ontario Hockey Association's Hamilton Red Wings who would go on to win a CHL championship with the Dallas Black Hawks in 1969, Rick Morris would go on to play a total of six (6) years in the WHA with the likes of the Chicago Cougars, Denver Spurs/Ottawa Civics, Edmonton Oilers and Quebec Nordiques to the tune of 413 games played over that time. Traded by Edmonton to Quebec in November of 1977, offered here is this Nordiques jersey worn by Morris during his short stint with the club that saw him play in twenty-five (25) games. A mesh construction offering void of any labeling on the interior that measures out to roughly a size "52" for its effort, a suspender style fight strap is still present on the interior. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a screened on Nordiques team crest, single layer blue coloured Fleur de lys' appear over the shoulders plus the front and reverse hems in matching style. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Morris' number "27" in screened on single layer blue numerals, "Morris" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate that is in place at the top of the reverse. Of note, the number appearing over the reverse has been screened on over a section of white mesh that was then sewn on by the team's equipment staff over top of the number "7" that is still visible underneath. Furthermore, the team also added the number "2" to the pre-existing 7's that are seen over the sleeves, having done so in a different colour and font. The number "7" was worn that season by Jim Dorey who played in twenty-six (26) games (some seeming to overlap with Morris' games played) but there does not seem to be any evidence of another nameplate that was ever affixed to the upper reverse. Additionally, Dorey wore an "A" during the year and there is no evidence of one (1) ever having been sewn on and then removed for Morris to use the jersey indicating this one was originally possibly an extra that was intended to be made up for Dorey if needed. Displaying overall good game-wear throughout, including pilling on the interior and rubbing at the end of both sleeves from Morris' gloves, stick marks are seen throughout the body and sleeves, which also shows light board burns as well. Also exhibiting light board burns over the lower front and reverse, coloured board paint transfers over the lower reverse and right sleeve, a small unrepaired hole in the right sleeve and general filth/staining from age/use throughout that is heaviest over the upper front and shoulders, the jersey is a fantastic example of some of the cost cutting measures that were used by team's during the era.
