The darling city in the world of Major League Baseball, with teams that have called it home claiming a total of thirty-five (35) World Series championships over the years between the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants and Mets, offered here is this collection of vintage New York baseball memorabilia that hails from the personal collection of legendary journalist, Frank Brown. Paced by a group of year books that includes examples for the Mets from; 1962 (inaugural season - pen mark over the cover), 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1971, plus the Yankees from; 1964, 1965, 1966 and 1973, the group also features a trio of guides/programs centered around the 1976 Yankees, including a program from the 1976 ALCS. With the rest of the programs/yearbooks including noteworthy examples from the 1972 ALCS, NLCS and World Series, also found is a program from the 1976 World Series and a 1966 Los Angeles Dodgers yearbook. Moving on to two and a half pairs of 1980s New York Mets batting gloves, joining the glove is a Mets press pin from the 1973 World Series by Balfour, a Mets 25th anniversary patch, various Mets and Yankees tickets/media passes giving Brown access to either Shea Stadium or Yankee Stadium, including for the 2007 ALDS, 2008 MLB All-Star Game, 2009 World Series, 2004 MLB All-Star Game and the 1976 ALCS and 1977 World Series at Yankee Stadium. Also including various Baseball Writers Association of America passes issued to Brown 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, all the items in the collection are in an overall good or better condition with most showing just light to expected handling wear that is expected from use and age. Publishing his first paid hockey article in a New York Rangers game program in 1970 that earned him a total of fifty ($50) dollars, from there, Frank Brown began his career as a journalist for The Associated Press, typically covering the Montreal Canadiens. Under the leadership of Stan Fischler, Brown stated he learned the "courage of my convictions" after being handed Gordie Howe's phone number. Moving on to the New York Daily News in 1980, where he would remain until 1998, when he joined the National Hockey League as a communication executive, a position he would hold with the league until his retirement in 2018. He was awarded the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award by the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2019.
