Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
Originally presented to the man who signed a 14-year-old Bobby Orr, we have a framed display of 1967-68 Art Ross / Converse NHL pucks that was given to Wren Blair to commemorate the first televised season of Minnesota North Stars hockey. Blair served as the first general manager and coach of the North Stars in 1967-68. The frame has a felt backing, with five Original Six Art Ross / Converse pucks for the Canadiens, Bruins, Black Hawks, Red Wings and Rangers (the Leafs puck with colour logo appears to be a 1968-69 Art Ross / Converse puck with rubberized logo), along with six expansion pucks for St Louis, Philadelphia, Minnesota, California, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles (only the expansion clubs had colour logos during the first season, and we should note that the Flyers puck has a screened logo, and there is wear to the Kings logo puck). Each puck is nailed to the frame through the reverse, and we are unsure if glue was also used. The gold coloured plaque lists the details including "1967-68", "Wren Blair" and "To Commemorate the First Televised Season of Minnesota North Stars Hockey". There is some minor age wear to the pucks and 21" x 25" frame, but it displays beautifully overall. Addendum; please take note that the LA Kings puck doesn't appear to be and original puck, rather a puck with an applied paper-like material logo of the Kings on it and not an original game puck from the franchise.
