Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025

Synonymous with greatness, those fortunate enough to have seen Bobby Orr in action during his all-too-brief Hall of Fame career will understand and appreciate the way the Parry Sound wunderkind completely revolutionized the game, becoming the game’s first blueliner to focus on offence as much as defence. The winner of eight (8) straight Norris Trophy’s, Orr would also add the Calder Memorial, Conn Smythe (x2), Hart Memorial (x3) and Art Ross (x2) Trophies to his awards showcase during his career along with two (2) Stanley Cup’s and become one of the biggest and most marketable stars the National Hockey League had ever seen up to that point. Still one of the most collected players in the game today, offered here, we present this collection of Bobby Orr cards that totals twenty (20) and dates from the period of 1969-70 to 1978-79. All cards hailing from O-Pee-Chee hockey releases, the group including a copy of Orr's 1969-70 #212 All-Star card (VG-EX to EX - corner wear) as well as numerous cards 1970-71 including #'s 3 (PR - water damage and creased), 236 (PR to FR - All-Star - creased), 246 (EX to EX-MT - Hart Trophy - slight corner wear), 248 (G to VG - corner wear and a small crease), 249 (VG to VG-EX - corner wear) and 252 (VG to VG-EX - corner and light surface wear). Also including a copy of Orr's 1971-72 All-Star card (#251 - VG-EX to EX - tiny dent over the left side), and a pair of 1972-73 cards (#58 In Action and #280 Scoring Leaders - G to VG with discoloration and GOOD with a very small crease), the rest of the collection includes cards from; 1973-74 (#30 - EX to EX-MT - 60-40 centering), 1974-75 (#'s 100, 130 and 248 - FR to G with a crease at the bottom left, G to VG with light corner wear and completely off-center and VG to VG-EX with corner wear), 1975-76 (#'s 100, 210 and 288 - FR to G with a crease down the middle, EX to EX-MT with 95-5 centering and VG-EX to EX with the typical rough OPC cut on the left edge), 1976-77 (#213 - PR with multiple creases), 1977-78 (#251 - G to VG with corner wear) and 1978-79 (#300 - VG-EX to EX with a small ding to the bottom left corner). Overall, a great stepping stone towards starting an Orr portfolio!
