This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A fourteen time all-star and one of Quebec’s favourite sons, Maurice Richard would be elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame a season after retiring in 1961, with the Hall suspending the five-year grace period for eligibility, further attesting to his iconic status. A veteran of eighteen (18) National Hockey League seasons and 978 games played, all with the famed Montreal Canadiens, "Rocket" would help the Habs to a total of eight (8) Stanley Cup championships during his career and scored a then unheard of 544 goals over that time. Offered here, and originally hailing from his personal collection, is this collection of two (2) multi-signed photographs. For the first image, an 11" x 14" piece that is original photography by Denis Brodeur which has been signed by him at the bottom right corner with a gold marker ink signature, the photo was taken during the events of the 1993 NHL All-Star Game that was hosted by the Canadiens and features Richard, along with Jean Beliveau and Guy Lafleur, all hoisting the Stanley Cup. Signed by all three (3) legends over their respective images with gold marker ink signatures that display without issue, the photo is accompanied by a letter of authenticity on Canadiens letterhead that is addressed directly to Maurice and remains in overall good condition despite some surface scratches, edge/corner wear and staining/marks over the reverse. Additionally, also included with the lot is an 8" x 10" image of Richard as well as Bobby Clarke and Phil Esposito that was taken at the 1976 NHL All-Star Game in Philadelphia. Signed and personalized to Maurice, both have signed with blue marker ink that displays well despite its age, with Clarke inscribing his autograph with "Rocket, it was an honor meeting you" while Esposito has signed his with "To Rocket, the best goal scorer in history". Measuring 8" x 10" and remaining in overall excellent condition with just light wear and tape residue at the four (4) corners on the reverse, the image is accompanied by an LOA signed by Norman and Maurice Richard Jr.
