Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Key cogs in the wheel of the Edmonton Oilers that dominated the National Hockey League in the decade of the 1980s, Mark Messier and Jari Kurri would both win a total of five (5) Stanley Cups as members of the Oilers in the 1980s, hoisting the coveted trophy in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1990. Offered here, we present this lot that includes the 1980-81 and 1981-82 O-Pee-Chee rookie cards of both Messier and Kurri that have been signed by the 2007 and 2001 HHOF inductees. Pictured via action images over the front of both cards, the Messier example falls at #289 in the checklist while the Kurri is card #107 of the subsequent years' release. Both signed over the front with blue marker ink signatures that display without issue, both autographs have been graded by Beckett to the tune of "10" designations. Of note, neither card has been given a technical grade, just the autographs. Both appearing to show corner and edge wear that is heavier on the Messier example, Mark's card also sports some surface wear as well over the front. Both housed in Beckett holders, both remain in overall excellent condition with just light wear via some minor scratches and scuffs.
