Playing three (3) seasons with his hometown Grums IK before moving on to the top flight Västra Frölunda IF between 1970 and 1975, Willy Lindstrom would make his North American debut in the World Hockey Association as a member of the Winnipeg Jets in 1975, winning a trio of AVCO World Cups over a four (4) year span. Transitioning into the National Hockey League with the Jets for the 1979-80 season and going on to play a total of 582 NHL games with the likes of Winnipeg, Edmonton and Pittsburgh, winning Stanley Cups with the Oilers in 1984 and 1985, Lindstrom would return home to Sweden in 1987 and play three (3) seasons with Brynäs IF in the SHL to close out his career. A two-time bronze medalist with Team Sweden at the IIHF World Championships and the MVP at the 1977 WHA All-Star Game, offered here is this Edmonton Oilers jersey worn by Lindstrom during the 1984-85 season in which he won his second (2nd) Stanley Cup. A mesh construction offering made by Nike, the company's wordmark and iconic swoosh logo appears screened on over the reverse hem while a brand label displaying both size "L" and "Made in Canada" designations is affixed to the inner collar. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a familiar Oilers team crest in flight satin twill that also features embroidered details as well, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Lindstrom's number "19" in in stacked tri-layer flight satin twill numerals with the white coloured layer embroidered. Having had "Lindstrom" spelt out in single layer blue flight satin letters across the affixed matching mesh nameplate that runs over the top of the reverse, the original loop style fight strap is still present on the interior another with an "84/85" annotation in black marker ink.
Exhibiting excellent game-use throughout its entirety, stick marks are present over the front, reverse and both sleeves while numerous team repairs, totalling out to greater than twenty-five (25) examples, are scattered throughout the front, reverse and both sleeves as well. Also showing board burns and small coloured board paint transfers over both sleeves as well along with pilling on the interior, the jersey hails directly from Lindstrom's personal collection and comes accompanied by his signed Letter of Authenticity.
Regarding the photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #73850107 (May 30th, 1985 - Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 vs Philadelphia) to the small stick mark at the top of the team crest. Additionally, another image of the same moment just from a bit of a different angle shows the same mark as in the Getty Image as well as the uneven stitching on the underside of the top blue stripe of the right sleeve.
