Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
An intimate 50-card set picturing only players and staff of the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, the 1959-60 Parkhurst set was released for the last season of Montreal’s still unmatched run of five-straight Stanley Cups. Found here in near-complete set form with forty-six(46) of the fifty (50) cards making up the checklist present and accounted for, the assembly is missing only those of 1-Canadiens on Guard, 25-Bower in action, 30-Action Around The Net and 46-Officials Intervene for completion. Including a group of eleven (11) notable cards out of those that are included, those featured are 2-M. Richard (creases plus corner dings and rounding), 6-Beliveau (crease plus edge and corner wear plus surface "dirtiness"), 8-Harvey (creases and small corner dings plus paper residue on the reverse), 14-Moore (creased and corner plus edge wear), 23-Horton (creases, surface wear and staining over the front and reverse plus edge and corner wear), 24-Mahovlich (creased and surface wear/residue), 32-Bower (crease and corner dings), 39-H. Richard (faint creases and corner wear/rounding), 41-Plante (creases, corner wear/dings, surface and edge wear/"dirtiness"), 47-Selke (corner dings and surface residue) and 50-Clancy (creased plus corner dings/wear). For the rest of the set, the cards are all found to be in a low-grade condition state overall with many in the range of POOR but going as high as VG in some instances, with majority of the cards displaying creases and wear to their corners in addition to other things. Of note, card #40 of Bert Olmstead has writing on the back that is worth mentioning for accuracy.
