A veteran of twelve (12) National Hockey League seasons who suited up for the Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders, serving as a captain with each team during his time with the clubs, Alexei Yashin would receive his initial fame for being the first draft pick in the history of the expansion Ottawa Senators, having his name called second overall at the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Putting up a total of 781 points in a total of 850 games in his career in the NHL, offered here is this New York Islanders practice jersey worn by the Russian star during the era of the mid-2000s. Made by Reebok, a lone size "58" label is affixed to the inner collar with the size also having been embroidered into the front hem. Accented over the front and reverse necklines with NHL shield and Reebok logo crests, an additional Reebok logo is found atop the left side collar bone. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a familiar Islanders team crest that features embroidered details., the sleeves and verso have been styled with Yashin's number "79" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Yashin" is spelt out in single layer navy twill letters across the affixed air-knit material nameplate. Of note, the the nameplate shows yellow coloured staining due to the adhesive used to tack it down before sewing. Sporting pro on-ice elements such as a fight strap and reinforced elbows on the interior, the jersey shows light wear overall with just a few light marks/board burns over the body and sleeves, including one board burn on the left sleeve that has resulted in a small hole. Additionally, some light fraying is present around the elbows on the interior and there is evidence of numerous washings in the velcro of the fight strap.
