Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
A Memorial Cup champion with the Oshawa Generals in 1990, Fred Brathwaite would see himself stand between the pipes in a total of 254 National Hockey League games over the course of his career for four (4) different clubs including Edmonton, Calgary, St. Louis and Columbus. Hailing from his first season in "The Gateway City", offered here is this signed stick used by Brathwaite during the 2001-02 campaign. A Koho 500 model stick with "F. Brathwaite" stamped to the upper shaft, a date stamp reading "26 NOV 2001" is found on the underside of the lower shaft as well. Retaining Brathwaite's original tape job of black finished with white around the knob and black wrapped around the blade, the stick displays moderate game-use in the form of a handful of light puck marks spread over the blade tape as well as up the paddle and shaft while some blue coloured paint marks are dotted around the white areas on both sides of the twig. Sporting a thinner shaft than most sticks and also more rounded, Brathwaite has signed over the upper portion of the paddle with a blue marker ink signature that displays without issue.
