Combining to win a total of three (3) NFL Most Valuable Player Awards during their respective Hall of Fame careers, Joe Montana and Dan Marino would refer to each other as the greatest quarterbacks of all-time and would go head to head against each other in the 1985 Super Bowl, won by Montana and standing as the second of four championships that he won in his career. Also combining to play in a total of seventeen (17) Pro Bowl's, offered here is this lot consisting of footballs signed by each respective legend. Starting with the Montana ball, an official NFL "The Duke" game ball made by Wilson, one panel has been painted in recognition of Montana's MVP performance at Super Bowl XVI, a 26 to 21 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Slightly deflated and remaining in good condition despite some wear from age and handling, Montana has signed the panel under the painted one with a black marker ink signature that has faded significantly over time. For the Marino ball, an official Wilson made NFL autograph offering with white panels, the ball remains in good condition with light signs of wear and age throughout while also being quite deflated. Signed by Marino with a blue marker ink signature that displays well despite some fading on the panel under the white Wilson one, an additional signature from Brian Holloway has also been penned over the ball opposite the Marino autograph, this one done in black ballpoint ink that displays well despite some fading from age which is also accompanied by a long inscription. A JSA Auction LOA will accompany the lot.
