After two solid seasons in the minors, Pierre Mondou cracked the potent Montreal Canadiens line-up and earned his spot. The center scored 49 points including 19 goals as a rookie and helped the Habs to a 129 point season, en route to a Stanley Cup championship. This Prince of Wales trophy was presented to Mondou for the Canadiens’ status as the 1977-78 Wales Conference regular season champions. At 13” in height, four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from a 2 ½” wooden base to support a cup with an affixed coat of arms and removable lid (the lid has been glued down). A plaque affixed over the front of the wooden base states, “Prince of Wales Trophy”, with “Pierre Mondou” engraved beneath, with a second plaque over the reverse sporting, "NHL Champions – Montreal Canadiens – 1977-78". The trophy exhibits some surface wear to parts of the metal components, with a few marks to the "NHL Champions" plaque. Originally from Pierre Mondou's personal collection, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
