Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

Playing four (4) years of NCAA hockey with the University of Michigan, Dave Richter would be drafted 205th overall by the Minnesota North Stars at the 1980 NHL Entry Draft and go on to a National Hockey League career that would see him play in 365 games overall with the likes of Minnesota, Philadelphia, Vancouver and St. Louis. Offered here, we present this Philadelphia Flyers jersey worn by Richter during the 1985-86 season after being acquired from the North Stars. A heavyweight mesh construction offering made by Eagle and displaying a lone "16" size tag affixed to the inner collar, the jersey measures out to roughly a size "56" and has had the Eagle logo embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a familiar Flyers team crest in layered tackle twill that has been hastily sewn on by Philadelphia's training/equipment staff with thick twine like thread, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been styled with Richter's number "5" in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Richter" is spelt out in single layer black twill letters across the affixed matching mesh nameplate at the top of the reverse. Of note, when Richter was first acquired, he wore the number "34" up until December 8th before switching to the number "5" on December 10th. Featuring Pelle Lindbergh's number "31" in single layer black twill numerals over the top of the left sleeve in memoriam after the legendary Swedish goaltender passed away earlier in November of the same season, the jersey, featuring a traditional snap style fight strap on the interior, shows game wear via light stick marks over the front and reverse while team repairs are seen over the inside of the right sleeve near the shoulder and at the bottom of the collar. Also showing numerous popped seams for the black striping accents on each sleeve, good pilling is observed on the interior and Richter has signed the jersey over the upper reverse with a black marker signature that displays well and without issue. Of note, some light spot stains are present throughout as well that is worth noting for accuracy.
