Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
A standout for many seasons with the powerful Dynamo Moscow squad throughout the late-1970s and 1980s, defenseman Vasili Pervukhin represented the Soviet Union in international competition for over a decade, and originally from his personal collection, we offer IIHF World Championships Russian gold medals for 1982, 1983 and 1986. With each medal at 2 ¾” in diameter, two generic hockey players battle on the obverse of each, encompassed by "World Championships" in raised letters, while the reverses includes a globe over two crossed hockey sticks, with "International Ice Hockey Federation" encircling the perimeters. The year for each medal appears in raised letters to each ribbon loop mounted above, with each medal retaining the original blue and gold ribbon. The 1982 and 1983 medals remain in flawless condition, while the 1986 medal shows a bit of surface wear on the left side of the obverse. These medals would make for a stunning display.
