Renamed the Toronto Toros in the summer of 1973 after serving a single season as the Ottawa Nationals, the Toronto WHA franchise existed for a trio of seasons before a drop in attendance forced the club to relocate to Birmingham for the 1976-77 WHA season. First starting his WHA career as a member of the Winnipeg Jets during the league's first season of play before being traded to Toronto, Steve Cuddie would return to the city he played his junior hockey in as a member of the Toronto Marlboros and suit up for a pair of seasons with the Toronto Toros. Offered here, we present this Toros jersey worn by Cuddie during the 1974-75 season. A durene knit garment made by Tricot Sport Maska, a brand label is affixed to the inner collar with the size tag long lost to time. Measuring out to roughly a size "46", the front of the jersey has been decorated with a Toros team crest that features embroidered details throughout its entirety while the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been added over the left breast in layered tackle twill style. Sporting "Toros" alternate logo patches over each sleeve, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Cuddie's number "4" in dual layer tackle twill numerals while the original nameplate is no longer in place over the upper reverse though clear evidence of its former placement is observed through stitch outlines, a team repair and adhesive residue. Exhibiting clear and concise game-wear, board burns are present over both sleeves while a good sized team repair is present over the ribs at the front right. Also showing a couple of light board paint transfer and stick marks over both sleeves and pilling on the interior, fabric runs are present over the right sleeve and lower front as well. A post card of Cuddie from the season picturing him in his white home jersey will also be included with the jersey.
